After finishing the course, beneficiaries will fly to Bishkek and take the official IELTS test, the cost of which is provided by the grant. \nProfessors and public-school teachers often express the goal of passing IELTS to advance their careers, sometimes as a direct request from their superiors or the Ministry of Education. Furthermore, students often request their teachers to help them prepare for this exam. \n\nThe overall duration of the course is 12 weeks. Guest speakers will also include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Higher Education, as well as prominent Uzbek alumni who will share their knowledge and expertise on issues such as leadership and business. This project aims to bring together reform-minded members of Uzbek society who have an academic link to the UK and promote the alumni network as a platform for further professional development. SPP funding covers the non-reception part of the conference which will include two L&D sessions, the first with a UK expert speaker on AI and Leadership; the second a local Uzbek expert speaker on Self Branding; the topics were specifically selected after consulting major alumni groups and listening to their preferences.\n\nAs well as promoting the UK as an education destination and underscoring the soft power of our education offer, the project aims to provide learning that participants will cascade across the organisations they work in (including government, civil society, private sector) to increase effectiveness and inclusion, supporting Uzbekistan's development.\n \n ID: GB-GOV-1-400222-415\nTitle: Integrating the best practices of the UK Botanical Institutes in Tajikistan to encourage citizens to bond with nature.\nDescription: The project plans to acquire knowledge and experience from the UK Botanical Institutes on the conservation of nature, by incorporating their approach and encouraging citizens to enjoy and respect nature. \n\nOutput 1 of the project provides an opportunity for project partners to learn from the advanced practices by participating in the Study Exchange Visit to the UK Botanical Institutes. The project achievements, including the results of the Nature Conservation Program, will be shared through mass media for the citizens of the Kulob area.\n \n ID: GB-GOV-1-400222-416\nTitle: Preventing and responding to cases of gender-based violence in Sughd, Tajikistan.\nDescription: This project will allow women victims of gender based violence and women at risk of violence to access support services, access legal support, and bring perpetrators of violence to justice. The provision of services acts as a deterrent to perpetrators of violence, who understand that there are organisations and people who are willing to defend the rights of women. Through social workers and psychologists, victims are able to receive support, and family counselling sessions are given, to help change attitudes towards the situation of women. With legal support, women are able to receive free of charge services to protect their rights and proceed with criminal convictions of the perpetrators when desired. These services have saved the lives of numerous women and have helped many more to rebuild their lives without violence. Local grassroots community leaders in 2 urban settings (Khujand) and 2 rural settings (J. Rasulov) will be trained to improve the effectiveness of their response to cases of violence against women, so that women are properly protected and can access help when they need it. Experience of working with community leaders has shown that improving the efficiency of their response has resulted in a reduction in the levels of violence in these communities.\n \n ID: GB-GOV-1-400222-417\nTitle: A scoping visit for peer engagement with the Union of Lawyers of the Republic of Tajikistan.\nDescription: The aim is to strengthen peer engagement between the Law Society and the Union of Lawyers and identify opportunities for collaboration to promote good practice for legal professional bodies and support lawyers in Tajikistan.\nThis will be achieved through a scoping visit to Tajikistan to undertake a series of stakeholder meetings, including representatives of the Union of Lawyers, to document the mandate and functioning of the Union of Lawyers, examine good practice, and current challenges for lawyers. The findings will lead to recommendations for future collaboration to support the legal sector\nAs the professional body representing lawyers in Tajikistan, the Union of Lawyers has the remit to play a key role in promoting respect for rule of law and supporting lawyers as significant agents of the rule of law and equal access.
