Building on 20 years of community engagement in Guyana, the DETECT space technology solution will be designed and developed in collaboration with communities and local stakeholders. The aim is to apply space science innovations to existing products to provide communities and key decision-makers with a higher-resolution and more responsive map of vector population risk and to direct when and where community-based vector control interventions should occur. Through satellite communications, the system will then dispatch ‘sprayer drones’ to these high-risk areas to release biocontrol agents – killing mosquito larvae without affecting other species.    ","Malaria and dengue have a major impact on the health and development prospects of remote communities in developing countries, where conventional mosquito control strategies are failing.
